Program Description:

Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment is offered at differing levels of intensity depending on the needs of the individual client. Treatment is designed to either continue work from the residential setting, or for those clients whose life issues are not as severe or numerous as that of clients in a residential setting. The prime focus in outpatient treatment is relapse prevention, with an emphasis on incorporating recovery tools and values in one’s daily life. Treatment lasts between 3 – 9 months, with clients participating in treatment activities between 1 – 5 days each week. BHS provides outpatient substance abuse treatment and mental health services to adolescents ages 12 to 18. Adolescent treatment services include assessment, treatment planning, alcohol and other drug education, group, individual and family counseling, and social/recreational activities. Program activities are provided after school hours and on Saturdays. The adolescent substance abuse treatment services are geared toward both adolescents identified as high risk for substance abuse and adolescents who have already developed patterns of abuse or addiction. Mental health services are provided for adolescents with co-occurring substance abuse and for adolescents eligible for Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) under the California Medi-Cal program.
