STRIVE VOCATIONAL PROGRAM HAS 14 OPENINGS FOR TRANSITIONAL HOUSING

The Mission of the STRIVE Vocational Program is to transform lives by consistently recruit and retain individuals who, through homeless, desire to be self-reliant and successful.  The Goal of the STRIVE Vocational Program is to assist clients with Permanent Housing and Full-time Employment. Classes are offered every six weeks.  

Program requirements are as follows:

A verification of homelessness, California identification, Social Security card, TB Clearance, 90 days of sobriety and proof of income

W.E.C.A.N. HOUSE HAS 2 BEDS AVAILABLE

W.E.C.A.N. House has 2 beds available for single women 18 years and older living with HIV/AIDS.  This innovative housing program is designed for women who are committed to achieve independent living skills in an effort to enhance their quality of life.  W.E.C.A.N. House's mission is to provide a clean, peaceful, and nurturing environment.  While encouraging self-reliance to women as they transition into independent living. W.E.C.A.N. House provides 3 meals a day, free on-site laundry facility and a spacious home in a beautiful community.

These beds will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Potential clients must have the following:   Recent Diagnosis Form(within 90 days), TB Clearance (if positive, provide a chest x-ray within last 30 days) Identification Card, Social Security Card

PROJECT NEW HOPE HAS TRANSITIONAL BEDS AVAILABLE

Project New Hope has Transtional beds available at their Frank Cala and Padua Houses.

TB test and CURRENT HIV diagnosis required.  Symptomatic clients preferred.

THE HOUSING AUTHORITY THE CITY OF LONG BEACH WAITLIST

The Housing Authority of the City of Long Beach is requesting that all applicants that are currently on the HOPWA Waitlist, please update your contact information.  In a few weeks, The Housing Authority of the City of Long Beach will be sending out update letters to all applicants remaining on their waiting list.  If you are an applicant and fail to respond, your application will be closed.

This is for applicants that applied to the HOPWA waiting list back in 2008.

Applicants should go to the The Housing Authority of the City of Long Beach's website and verify or update your contact information to ensure you receive the update letter.  To verify or update an address, the applicant will need to go to: www.hacib.org

On the website, on the left hand side of the screen, point the cursor over " online services", then move the cursor over and click "waiting list status and update request".

Once you access the Housing Authority of the City of Long Beach "Waiting List Status Check and Information Update Request" screen, enter the requested information, then click on submit.  Your information will pop up and you can verify the address that is on file for you.  If updates are required, there will be a "correct my information" button.  Press the button and update the information and submit.


CHIRP/LA transportation program

Client must register with CHIRPLA and complete required documentation.

Client eligibility requirements:
*HIV+ or AIDS diagnosis
*Client is not receiving service from Medical Transportation, City Ride, Access Services Inc (ASI),
  Support for Homeless Re-Entry Program (SHORE) or General Relief Transportation Program
*Must meet income requirements and provide Proof of Income.

Trip purposes ELIGIBLE for CHIRP/LA transportation program:
* Job Search Only                 * Release from hospital
* Medical Emergency             * Case Management appointments
* Medical Appointment          * Mental Health appointments 
* Court Appearance              * Drug/alcohol treatment/dependency visits
* Shelter                             * Social Security office visits
* Food Banks


CHIRP/LA COLLABORATES WITH TWO NEW RESOURCES
CHIRP/LA is proud to annouce the establishment of two new partnerships
 
HOUSING RESOURCE:
Community of Friends is a nonprofit affordable housing developer for people with special needs. Community of Friends' mission is to end homelessness through the provision of quality permanent supportive housing for people with mental illness.  Some of these services include money management, medication monitoring and management; health services; counseling and goal support; substance abuse recovery; and independent living skills.
 
SUPPORTIVE SERVICES RESOURCE:
Northeast Mental Health Services is part of the network of clinics and hospitals contracted through The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health located in SPA4.  Primary services include case management, inpatient care, outpatient services (including crisis intervention/emergency response), and day treatment programs.
